Writing task 1: PROCESS ELECTRICITY

The diagrams show a structure that is used to generate electricity from wave power.

The diagrams illustrate how waves are transformed into electrical energy by a water column-based energy converter attached to a cliff. Generally, the process involves two major stages, beginning with the arrival of sea water and ending with its discharge.

According to the first diagram, the main component of the system consists of a capture chamber, whose lower part is exposed to sea water. Once the waves enter this chamber, their force causes the air to be moved powerfully to a column in which a turbine is located. The turbine is then driven to rotate in order to generate electricity.

The second illustration depicts the production of an electric current even when the waves move away from the shore. It should be noted that when the waves turn back, an inverse air pressure is created, allowing the turbine to continue its cycle. Once again, the motion results in the conversion of the primary energy source, water, into the secondary source, electricity.
